I have to say I’ve always loved the look of a leather sofa – it just beams quality, luxury and sophistication and looks good in any environment you can think of, however faux leather is much more ethical.

However, I’ve never even considered using real leather for the Willow & Hall sofas as there are other alternatives out there which are completely ethical in addition to being gorgeous to look at and soft and cosy to sit on.

Here are a couple of reasons why our sofas come upholstered in faux leather instead of the real thing:

  • Ethics. First and foremost, our fantastic Italian House Leather is made from cotton and polyurethane which I believe is a much more ethical way of doing business than using real leather. No animals are hurt in the process of building the Willow & Hall sofas!
  • Durability. Our leather has a rub count of 100,000, making it the most durable of our fabrics. While real leather sometimes has stretch marks and other imperfections, our man-made material retains the brand new feeling of the furniture for a really long time.
  • Easiness to care for. Red wine spillages are no longer an issue, as our leather upholstery can be effortlessly cleaned with a damp cloth – there’s just no other fabric out there which would be so super simple to care for.

In addition to these wonderful features, faux leather looks amazing and tends to look just right in almost any type of interior. Look how a brown faux leather sofa seamlessly blends into the aptly decorated room below. It adds a sense of weight and durability to the room while doing what sofas tend to do best – being snug and comfortable.

A brown leather sofa can also be an inseparable part of a classically styled interior. In the picture below, it works together superbly with a handful of classic decor pieces and a white coffee table. A cushion here, a throw there and you have a sofa which looks as soft and comfy as any while retaining the feeling of quality and timelessness.

A faux leather sofa doesn’t have to be black, brown or white either: the soft pastel tone of the sofa in the living room above combines the durability of leather together with the squishy and snug feeling of other upholstery options. At Willow & Hall, we currently have 5 vivid colours of our Signature Collection Leather to choose from, ensuring that you can always find an option which will suit your interior the best.
