We’re slightly confused as we always considered Easter to be the holiday of spring, with the trees starting to blossom and the birds returning from vacations in warmer climates. Well the birds might be back but the weather doesn’t seem to be improving one smidge. So it seems this Easter’s going to be much like Christmas… snuggling on the sofa in front of the fire and overindulging in lots of chocolate just without quite the same shopping madness before and after the festivities. Perhaps it doesn’t seem so bad after all!

So to celebrate Easter this year we thought we’d share a simple DIY idea on how to make your home cosy and colourful during this festive period. You’re going to need some eggshells (the ones you used for brekky will do just fine), some shredded candle wax and one birthday candle for each of the eggs. Now all you need to do is open the eggs at the top, melt the wax in an old kitchen can and fill the eggshells with the wax and then just before it sets lob a birthday candle right in the middle. Or, if you have a fear of melted wax, don’t have the necessary ingredients, or are feeling a bit lazy after all that chocolate just put some tea lights in the eggshells.

Repeat the process for as many times as you like to decorate your home with freshly-made free range eggshell candles! Happy Easter x
