The roads are wonderfully quiet and we’re getting lots of ‘on leave’ pings back to emails. Whilst many people are jetting off abroad, lots of us Willow and Haller’s have been making the most of the wonderful sunny weather we’ve been having this year and enjoying some local breaks in the beautiful UK.

One of the team recently returned from a surprise long weekend away at The Pig Hotel in the New Forest. The name was an immediate attention grabber and the more we heard about this quirky collection of hotels (there are actually four Pig hotels to try out) the more we felt we just had to share the details with our newsletter readers!!

The four Pig Hotels are located in the New Forest, Southampton, Somerset (our favourite of course as very near our lovely craftsmen) and Dorset. The Pig brand is all about relaxed welcoming atmospheres and top quality locally produced sustainable food (yes please!). The New Forest hotel also has a ‘home grown’ theme – with a focal point being its wonderful walled garden where there is a full time forager on site (something we all thought was rather fab). If they can’t feed you from their own garden, everything is still locally sourced – with 95% of the delicious menu being from within 25 miles of the hotel.

The bedrooms have been thoughtfully decorated in a shabby chic style, so the entire place has a relaxed, quirky feel to it but with a real emphasis on comfort and luxury. A handy book on topics such as gardening, pig rearing and hen keeping in each bedroom makes it feel that extra bit special and a totally different hotel experience. Our Willow and Haller even admitted to setting aside her ‘Ideal Homes’ mag for a few days to really embrace the ‘Pig’ experience and get stuck into the book on hen keeping! A ‘potting shed’ for spa treatments in the gardens and wonderful walks from the doorstep really does make a stay here a blissfully relaxing break.

Whilst the team member is now busy planning which of the hotels to stay in next the rest of us are making our own plans (or subtle hints to partners) for weekends away.
