This season’s summer fabrics

Traditionally summer in the UK signals en masse abandonment of our homes in favour of the great outdoors. And who can blame us? After all, us Brits know all too well our sunny days are numbered.

But, summer is actually a great time to give your home décor an overhaul. Daylight hours are longer, meaning more decorating can be done in a day. Plus, with your home flooded with light it’s the perfect time to choose fabrics and colour samples. So, we’ve put together a guide to this season’s must-have fabrics for 2017…

Lightweight Linen

Product featured: The Pewsey Bed in the Box shown in Lightweight Linen Wishing Well from £595

Not only does our Lightweight Linen have a relaxed, unstructured quality. But, its lightweight nature makes it an ideal choice in summer when keeping cool is a top priority. It’s composed of 100% natural linen and nothing else. So, it’s perfect for temperature regulation when the days start getting hotter. Plus, it has a hard-wearing rub count too so it can withstand a little rough and tumble, particularly from overzealous kids and pets.

We offer 3 fantastically summer-friendly fabric shades in our Lightweight Linen, all of which work a treat in this beautifully natural material. Lightweight Linen Flax, Canvas and Wishing Well all come in hues of grey and blue which are ideal for introducing a muted seaside influence in your home.

Washed Cotton

Product featured: The Hindon bed shown in Washed Cotton Driftwood from £635

Woven from 100% cotton, our Washed Cotton fabric has been pre-shrunk so it’s wonderfully breathable and highly resistant. If you’re accident-prone, Washed Cotton is an ideal choice as it’s machine washable. Plus, it has a naturally faded appearance so it’s perfect for summer when it’s all about lightweight and natural textures.

Washed Cotton comes in a range of colours but our favourites have to be zingy Citrus and Kiwi, especially with Pantone pronouncing “Greenery” its colour of the year for 2017. These fabrics are the perfect shades for adopting the green trend into your home, not to mention they’re the ideal tones for creating light and airy summer living spaces.

Cotton

Product featured: The Foxham sofa/sofa bed shown in Cotton Pigeon from £867 and £1,053

If you’re not keen on a washed out look, yet you still want the breathability of a 100% natural fabric, then our Cotton fabric is for you. This seasonal fabric type has a mega rub count of 40,000. So, it’s highly resistant yet can also be cleaned at home should the worse occur and spillages happen.

Despite being beautifully breathable in the summer heat, our Cotton fabric will also give you comfort all year round. So, its merits extend into winter too. But, if you want to capture the feel of summer, opt for nautical influenced shades such as Midnight Blue and French Blue which offer a stylish take on traditional seaside colour palettes.

Or, if you really want to go all out and introduce a nautical theme to your home interiors, you can opt for our Textured Chenille Duck Egg fabric and add some coastal themed props. This gorgeous fabric is both stylish and comfortable and will add a subtle hint of seaside charm this summer. So, look no further than our inspiring Downton below…
