One trend this year that’s definitely a do is the rip-roaring 20’s. Thanks to the re-imagined Great Gatsby – art deco, geometric styles and decadence is back with a bang.
Now, this doesn’t mean we need to buy a flapper dress and get shimmying. It means taking some inspiration from one of the most decadent time periods in history and translating that to modern day style.
Adding a little Gatsby magic is simple as well. One idea would be to purchase a vintage mirror. They’re easy to come by in any vintage market or online. The geometric shape will make it a feature in a room and bring light as well as the illusion of space. Another way to bring the 20’s to your home would be to dress the table with a black runner and strewn white feathers and strings of faux pearls. Monochrome is a strong look so use sparingly in the home. Why not print out F. Scott Fitzgerald quotes and frame them. They needn’t be big, even small A5 sized prints will look effective and will provoke thought in curious guests.
Whilst we may not all be able to throw extravagant parties, we all deserve a little Gatsby indulgence in our lives and our home.
