Modular Sofa Beds

A modular sofa bed lets you build seating around your room rather than squeezing your room around a sofa. Handmade in Britain, our modular designs range from single love seats and two or three seaters to sectional-style chaise and corner layouts, including four and five seater chaises and seven or eight seater corners.

Each design also gives you a comfortable bed when you need it, with open sprung, pocket sprung and memory foam mattress options available. Choose from over 150 fabrics, with storage options available on selected designs, and arrange the individual modules to suit the way you use your room.

You can also spread the cost with 0% finance, and our 25-year frame guarantee gives you extra peace of mind for the years ahead. If you’d prefer a more fixed layout, browse our full sofa beds collection to explore more sizes and styles.

Building Your Modular Sofa Bed

Instead of one fixed frame, modular sofa beds are made up of individual sections that can be combined to suit the space you have. That could mean a compact one, two or three seater, a modular sofa bed with a chaise for more room to stretch out, or a larger modular corner sofa bed for an open-plan living area. Larger modular layouts are sometimes described as sectional sofa beds, particularly when several sections come together to create a chaise or corner layout.

The Deverill and Minety offer the widest choice of configurations, ranging from single seaters through to four and five seater chaise designs and seven or eight seater corners. If you need something a little more compact, the Ablington and Westbury are available in one, two and three module layouts, with ottoman options available too.

Because the sofa is built from separate modules, you also have more flexibility if your needs change later. You can start with a smaller configuration and add sections over time, or rearrange the layout if you move home or simply fancy changing the way your room works.

Customise Your Luxury Modular Sofa Bed

With over 150 fabrics to choose from, there’s plenty of scope to make your modular sofa bed suit the rest of your room. For busy family homes, stain-resistant fabrics and tighter weaves are well suited to regular use, while velvet gives a richer finish and linen or softer woven fabrics create a more relaxed look.

If you have children or pets, think about how easy the fabric will be to live with day to day. Tighter weaves tend to be better at hiding everyday marks and are less likely to catch, while more textured fabrics can be a little more forgiving when it comes to dust and small scuffs.

Lighter shades such as stone, oat and soft grey can help a larger modular sofa feel less dominant, while deeper greens, blues and warm neutrals turn it into more of a focal point. It’s also worth looking at your samples in both natural and artificial light, as the same fabric can look quite different from morning to evening.

You can also choose how you want the sofa to feel, with reflex foam for a firmer sit, siliconised hollow fibre cushions for something softer, or feather-wrapped foam for the most relaxed feel.

Before you decide, order up to 8 free fabric samples and compare them against your flooring, walls and other furniture at home.

Mattress Options for Modular Sleeper Sofas

The mattress makes a big difference once your modular sofa bed is opened up for the night. You can choose from three options, depending on the level of support you prefer and how often the bed will be used:

Open sprung: Our 14cm open sprung mattress uses heat-treated open-coil springs with layers of upholstery and insulation for comfortable, even support. It’s a good all-round choice, particularly for occasional guests.
Pocket sprung: Also 14cm deep, the pocket sprung mattress has individually working springs that respond more closely to the body and help reduce movement between sleepers. It’s well suited to regular use or if two people will often be sharing the bed.
Memory foam: Our 12cm memory foam mattress moulds more closely to the body for a softer, pressure-relieving feel. It’s a good choice if you prefer more cushioned support when you sleep.

It’s also worth thinking about how much sleeping space you need. For one person, explore our single sofa beds, or choose from small double, double and king size sofa beds if you need more room for overnight guests.

FAQS

How do I choose the right modular sofa bed configuration?

Think about how you’ll use it most often. A one, two or three seater suits smaller rooms, a chaise gives you more space to stretch out, and a seven or eight seater corner works well in larger or open-plan spaces. Before ordering, measure the space and check that doorways and walkways stay clear.

Will a sectional sofa bed fit through a narrow doorway or hallway?

Modular sofa beds are delivered in separate sections, making them easier to move through narrow doorways, hallways and tighter turns. Our delivery team will assemble the sections in your room.

Can you sleep on a modular sofa bed regularly?

Yes. Our modular sofa beds are available with open sprung, pocket sprung or memory foam mattresses, so you can choose the level of support that suits how often the bed will be used.

Can I get a modular sofa bed with storage?

Yes. Selected designs are available with storage ottomans, giving you space for spare bedding, pillows and throws.

Can I change the layout of my modular sleeper sofa?

Yes. The individual sections can be rearranged, and selected designs allow you to add extra modules or an ottoman later.
