Fabric Durability

We’re often asked which fabrics will last longest. In all honesty we can’t answer this. It all depends how regularly the item gets used and where it is. What we can tell you however, is that all our fabrics are tested using the famous rub count test - an industry test whereby a fabric is rubbed by a little machine thousands of times to see how long it lasts. Anything over 10,000 is considered top of its class for upholstery, so as you can see all our fabrics should last you super-duper well.

Stain Resistance & FibreGuard Stain Guard

If you've purchased a fabric with built in stain resistance, including FibreGuard stain guard, then you can still follow the cleaning instructions below however pen, coffee, mud, red wine and all common household stains are easily removed by a simple dab of water on the offending party. No need to remove any cushion covers or do anything else unless you wish to!
Read more about FibreGuard and our in-built stain protection here.

Staingard Protection

In addition to the above, we offer Staingard Protection on all our lovely fabrics. This covers your item for 5 years against accidental spills, stains, marks and damage such as wine spillages, tea disasters, tears, pet scratches and much more.
Read more about Staingard Protection here.

Stubborn Stains

Stubborn Stains

If your stain is particularly stubborn then fear not you still have options.

1. If you have a fabric with built in stain resistance, including FibreGuard stain guard, then simply follow the steps here.

2. If you have a Staingard Protection plan then simply pick up the phone to Staingard. A technician will pop round to try and remove the stain or repair the damage. If they still can't fix it they’ll replace your item for free with a sparkly new one. Read more about Staingard Protection here.

3. If you don't opt for a fabric with built in stain resistance, FibreGuard stain guard or Staingard Protection you can order an extra set of seat, back, scatter, and side cushion covers as well as arm caps when you place your original order or down the line if you get a stubborn stain. Just give our Customer Service team a call and they’ll be happy to run through this with you.

Still not sold on one of our beautiful fabrics?

If you’re a tough nut to crack and you can’t find your perfect fabric from one of our collections then it’s not a problem to have one of our items made in your own material. If you do decide to use your own fabric, please just ensure:

1. It has a fire retardant certificate which can be sent with the fabric to our workshop - all fabrics should have this.

2. It’s back coated and not interlined. Interlined is where there is a second inner lining of material behind the fabric as opposed to back coated where the fire retardancy treatment is applied directly to the back of the fabric.

3. You send us an image of the sample so we can confirm whether we can work with it or not. Depending on the complexity of the fabric we may need to see the sample in the flesh but 99% of the time this is not needed. The reason we need to be cautious is because some fabrics are more difficult than others and we want to make sure that, if it is a fabric our upholsterers are not familiar with, they are confident they can upholster the item perfectly for you.
