Easter is just around the corner, and what better way to mark its arrival than with a decorative bunch of flowers. At Willow and Hall, we believe that flowers are truly the perfect way to brighten up your home, adding a touch of warmth, radiance and colour this season. With this in mind, we have teamed up with South-West London based florist Gardenia of London, for their advice on the most popular Easter flowers, how they can enhance your interior space and top tips on how to care for them.

1. The most common is the tulip, of which there are more than 75 varieties. Their simple shape and clean lines make them a perfect match for any interior, and with such a vast array of colours, they look great in any home. Tulips are fast growers, so allow for this when picking out a vase. We don’t cut our tulips in store as cutting the stems allows flowers to drink more easily; once you’ve cut them at home you may find they spring up rather fast. As with all cut bulb flowers, you’ll only need a little water and it’s really important to change this regularly.

2. Another popular flower is the hyacinth, which comes in a range of colours, each with a unique fragrance. The name is derived from Greek, where it means “flower of rain” – very apt for springtime in London. Our bouquets are hand-tied so there is no need to do any arranging, just pop them in a vase of water! Luckily none of these spring flowers produce any harmful pollen, so there is no need to worry about it dropping onto your soft furnishings.

3.  For a more delicate feel, go for planted musari, which flowers in a soft blue or crisp white. Alternatively, if you can’t resist scented flowers, opt for hyacinth or narcissus bulbs, which will fill the room with a powerful fragrance once they open up. The beauty of a planted bulb is that once it has flowered indoors you can plant it outside where it will flower year after year. Just place them a few inches beneath the surface of the soil and voilà, they’ll flower in spring forever more.
